My story started back in the 90’s when stationed in Germany. Whilst having my daughter Emily I found a baby shoe pattern in a magazine and I started to make them. People saw Emily wearing them and asked if I could they could have some.
All was going well until I realised the larger sizes needed anti-slip soles, a problem! my husband said “leave it to me”. He arranged for me to meet the Sargent major of the 28 Engineer Regiment who took me to the bottom of the barracks where there were lots of scrap cars, I was allowed to cut all the backs off the car seats to make the soles. Now years later Emily encouraged me to start making my shoes again, she has designed my logo and chosen the business name, so First Footings is a family business.
The little shoes are made from corduroy, they come in various colours and designs. Sizes available are newborn, 0-3 months, 3-6 months and 6-12 months. My 6-12 month shoes have leather soles ideal for extra grip for newly toddling little people.
All shoes come in an organza gift bag and are ideal for any occasion or a welcome to the world gift shoes to keep little feet cosy. There are also a selection of Tartan shoes ideal for finishing off a wedding outfit and best of all the larger ones have soles made from genuine leather and Not Car Seats!
