I’m Phil Turner an independent Welsh watercolour artist with a wide range of canvas paintings. I live and work near the village of Ystradgynlais on the edge of the Brecon Beacons in the beautiful upper Swansea Valley, South Wales.
I am Self-taught and having an interest in art from an early age, I spent much of my childhood and teenage years drawing and painting. My interest art dwindled towards the end of secondary school when my path took the course of football and girls.
My watercolours paintings are inspired by the landscapes and nature of the mountains, rivers & valley’s. I produce watercolour artwork using the brand name – ‘The Sleeping Giant’ and why we are the perfect place for your next artwork Purchase! My artwork cuts across a range of scenes from across beauty of the Welsh landscape, to more subtle scenes of mountains, woodlands, rivers, birds, animals and waterfalls.
After retiring from playing football & working, I felt the need to start painting again. After sporadic creative bursts of working on my art over the subsequent years, I finally got my own space in late 2014 and began painting watercolour art regularly.
I have had one-man exhibitions at various venues such as Ystradgynlais Library, Powys, Bryn-Amman Community Centre and Ammanford Library, Carmarthenshire, where I received very good reviews on my exhibition.
